Placement

Week 2! This week was a little harder I think I’ve lost my awe. Johnny does not see me as an authority at all, and no matter what I say he has to consult the teacher…for everything! One time the teacher was very busy at her desk doing work while someone else read the kids a story and he had to tell her someone called him a “big baby” but would not tell me who and was relentless at getting to the teacher no matter what I said or did. It turns out he called himself a big baby, and I’m not sure what this means! I don’t understand why we would need teacher attention when he has me right there, what should I be doing differently to make him feel for me what he feels for the teacher?

Meanwhile all the other kids really enjoy being around me and all want to play with me at recess. It was a little scary though because at one point I made a game out of holding a hula hoop while the boys tried to kick a ball through it. It quickly got changed to three boys holding up hula hoop right in front of them while another boy tried to throw a basketball through it, but they were holding the hoops right in front of their faces. I was running around like a crazy person trying to stop them from getting hit trying to move hoops and catch balls. It was madness, they were constantly getting hit and then trying to tell on each other or get back at the one who hit them by hitting them with the back. This week was definitely harder than last week, hopefully I’ll get the hang of it and learn some new methods for dealing with situations like these!
